amazing structures in South Korea

The Olympic park is one of the most visited tourist attractions in South Korea. The Olympic park was used in the 1988 summer Olympics when the Soviet Union came in first and South Korea came in 4th position. Even though the stadium was built in 1984, the stadium seemed like it was only built yesterday, the sculptures around the stadium all seeming very modern and well maintained for a 20 year old stadium.

The Olympic Games were the biggest thing in the decade for South Korea as it is a great honour to host the Olympic Games. As well as the Olympic park tracks, there are three botanical gardens and an Olympic museum. The Olympic museum is one of the biggest Olympic museums in the world and it takes a long time to look around, the museum containing Olympic medals, videos and statues which bring the stadiums past back to life.

I was invited to a walk around the stadium with the one and only Kim sung Jip, after I visited the museum and gardens. Kim Jung Jip won bronze in weights, in the 1988 Olympics, we went to each stadium including the running track, the pool and the weights room, Kim Jip told me how the women that she was competing against had the leg and arm muscles the size of kid eight years old kids. After talking to Kim about how that year was the greatest of her life and how it was the same with all the other athletes playing for South Korea, it made me feel that it was South Korea’s best year ever.
